John Dunlap, Sr., of Lee Township died Saturday and was buried Tuesday, in his 83d year. His grandfather, Samuel Dunlap, came from Maryland and settled in Lee Township in 1810. Deceased was brought up to farm life and in 1854 was married to Miss Anna Cheatham, and soon after went to the farm on which he lived the remainder of his days. To them were born Hance, Florence (Mrs. Henry Kail), William S., Alice and Fred. The entire family are members of the Presbyterian Church.

This most excellent and aged citizen of Lee Township, died at his home near Harlem last Sabbath night, June 30, 1901, from heart trouble for years, that produced dropsy, with 83 years ended a reputable life. A man of good sense, reserved in demeanor, who endeavored and did his part as a Christian citizen. Was married to Miss Hannah Cheatham of Union Township, of which marriage two sons have been reputably reared to manhood; who, with his widow, survive to do honor, to the evenly life of a faithful husband and a kind and generous parent. Interment at Harlem Cemetery.
