Mrs. Mary E. Lore was born near Iconium, Ia., April 24, 1853 and passed away at her home in Courtland March 16, 1939 at the age of 85 years, 10 months, and 22 days.
Her husband, Henry Lore, a son, Walter William and a daughter, Mrs. Flora Jones preceded her in death. Those left to mourn her death are two daughters, Mrs. Della Borber, Barnard, Mrs. Virgie Crissman, Clay Center, a son, Frank, of Madison, 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and many friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Lore were pioneers of Lincoln county, coming from Iowa in 1887 and taking a homestead. Mrs. Lore as converted in a Salvation Army meeting at Barnard many years ago. She was a firm believer in the Bible, and was able to quote many passages.
Funeral services were held from the home Saturday conducted by the Rev. G. V. Parks and burial was in the Courtland cemetery.
