The funeral for Jane Ruth Holmes, 58, of 1789 Chestnut Knob Road, Martinsville, who died Jan. 9, 2012, at Hospice of Rockingham County in Reidsville, N.C., will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Martinsville. The Rev. Dr. Harvey Penn will officiate. Burial will be in Patrick Memorial Gardens in Stuart.
The family will receive friends for a half-hour before the service Friday at the church and other times at the home.
She was born Jan. 31, 1953, in Mount Airy, N.C., to James W. Hunt and Joanna Mae Hunt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, James Noah Hunt, James Bervie Hylton, Bobby Hylton and Steve Hylton; and a sister, Mae Bradley Crowder.
She attended Patrick County High School and National Business College. She had worked at Bassett Walker Knitting and was a nursing assistant at a Greensboro, N.C., doctor's office.
She attended Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist.
Surviving are her husband, Henry Holmes of the home; a son, Anthony Lee Holmes of Martinsville; and three sisters, Colean Floyd of Columbus, Ohio, Willa Mae Phillips of Greensboro and Shirley Ann Hunt of Stuart.
