William Joseph Sanders was the son of Oliver John Sanders and Mary Ann Vidler. Will's father, Oliver John Sanders, was shot and killed by Jay Hawkers in 1864, when Will was 11 years old. Will and his siblings helped to support their mother on the farm. He married Martha Jane Puckett on March 4, 1875. They were parents of Estelle (Byrd), Viola (Curtis, Robertson), Effie (Pynes), Ruth, Oliver Ludlow, Richard Crittenden, Abner Hoyt, & Ross Sanders. Will and Martha are at rest in Pleasant Hill Cemetery nearby where they farmed.
