Catherine E. Schumaker, 96, formerly of Orefield, died Saturday, Nov. 3, in Lehigh Center, Lower Macungie Township. She was the wife of the late Millard R. Schumaker.

She was a fruit packer for the former Trexler Orchards, Inc., Orefield, for 30 years before retiring in 1975.

Born in North Whitehall Township, she was a daughter of the late Amos D. and Emma P. (Helfrich) Kleckner.

She was a member of Union Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schnecksville.

She was a charter member of Lady Lillie Best Rebekah Lodge 222, Schnecksville, and a member of Tri-Clover Fire Company auxiliary, Orefield.

Survivors: Sons, Millard G. of Orefield, Donald R. of South Whitehall Township; daughters, Francine D. Slifer and Louise C. Bastian, both of Emmaus; brother, Amos P. of North Whitehall Township; sisters, Alice I. Bostick of Schnecksville, Mabel E. Kern of Slatington, Lillian M. Emig of Northampton, Roma L. Handwerk of Walnutport; 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Leona C. Miller, in 1996.
