A veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 as the commanding officer of anti-submarine warfare vessels in the Atlantic, Caribbean and Pacific theatres.
Frank was a practicing attorney and a co-founder of the law firm of Trapasso, Dolan & Hollander of Morristown, where he was a partner until his retirement in 1992.
He was married to wife Kathleen (Hiler) for 44 years until her death in September 1998. They were parents of six: Frank A.[Elizabeth]Dolan,Jr of Cherry Hill, Mary Jo [Steven]Gray of Far Hills, Kathleen [JT]Honish of Morris Township, Moira P. Dolan of New York City, Mark P. [Sandra]Dolan of Marin County CA and Sheila A. Dolan also of Marin County. He was grandfather to seven: Frank, Matthew, Conor & Ryan Dolan; Devon, Erin & Gordon Grey.
He resided in Sussex County from 1949 to 1969, then lived in Morristown, and Morris Twp. before moving to Harding Twp. in 1992. He served as Sussex County Prosecuter from 1956 to 1960. He was the Democratic candidate for the N.J. Assembly in 1955 and for the N.J. Senate in 1961. In 1971, he served as president of the Sussex County Bar Association and was the chairman of the N.J. Supreme Court Judicial Selection Committee.
He was a member of: the Church of Christ the King in New Vernon, American Legion Post 59 in Morristown, Sunny Brook CC, the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, and former lector and choir member at the Church of the Assumption.
