Major League Baseball Player. A Bloomfield, New Jersey native, he was a third baseman for the New York Yankees in 1944 and 1945. After playing college ball for Rutgers University, he moved to the Minors, playing with Butler of the Pennsylvania State League in 1938. He then had Minor League stops with Akron of the Mid-Atlantic League and Norfolk of the Piedmont League before finally being signed by the Yankees where he joined their Minor League Newark Bears team of the International League. He stayed with Newark throughout the early 1940s, just missing making the cut in Spring Training several times. With World War II putting a strain on manpower, he finally made the parent club in 1944, making his debut on April 18, 1944. A right handed hitter, he shared the 3rd base duties with Oscar Grimes in a platoon role. He appeared in 71 games, batting .264 with 4 Home Runs and 24 RBI's. His role diminished in 1945, as he appeared in only 34 games, batting .224. Sent back to the minors the next year, he retired from baseball after spending the 1946 season with Newark. After his career, he worked for the Boylis Company of Bloomfield, New Jersey and for the Otis Elevator Company of New York. A diabetic, he passed away on Christmas Day, 1961 after a one year battle with Diabetic Nephropathy (Diabetes Induced Kidney Disease). Over the course of his career, he accrued a lifetime Batting Average of .256 with 4 Home Runs and 27 Runs Batted In in 105 Major League games.
