GEORGE B. WARD, SR.
Whiteville—George Brooks Ward, Sr., 89, a retired farmer of Ash, died Friday morning at 1:15 o'clock at his home following a long illInes. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the home by the Rev. William Ushery and interment will follow in the Ward family cemetery. He was the son of the late John James and Frances Long Ward. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs/ Ida Cox Ward; three sons, Luther L. Ward and Geo B. Ward, Jr. of Ash and John B. Ward of Longwood; two daughters, Mrs. Lola L. Long of Ash and Mrs. D. C. Smith of Savannah, Ga.; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
