Marjorie McClung Selby, 75, died on Tuesday, January 10, 2012.

A native of Grottoes, Virginia, she was a 1955 graduate of Waynesboro High School and had been a Hampton resident since 1963. She retired from civil service at Fort Monroe in 2000 after 27 years of service.

A member of Fox Hill Road Baptist Church, she was active in its Club 55, was a lifetime member and past president of the Hampton Volunteer Fire Company Ladies' Auxiliary and was a member of the Pine Cone Garden Club. Preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd "Tootie" Selby; a daughter, Carol Ann Selby; her parents, William Thomas and Mary Virginia Dabney McClung; and two brothers, Garland Lee McClung and James Malcolm. Survivors include her son, Keith M. Selby and his wife, Melissa, of Hampton; her daughter, Brenda Selby Carteret of Hampton; her beloved grandson, Hunter Selby; two brothers, William Miller McClung and his wife, Barbara, of Waynesboro, and Frank McClung and his wife, Suzanne of Roanoke; her sister, Betty Youngs and her husband, Don, of McCormick, South Carolina; her sister-in-law, Ann Page McClung of Charlottesville; her aunts, Hazel Murray of Waynesboro, Leona Miller of Grottoes, and Peggy Boccetti of Kinston, North Carolina; her nephew, E.L. "Jack" Brewer of Round Hill, Virginia; and many other nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2012, at the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home chapel by Pastor Tommy Larson and Mr. Donnie Dail. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
