Lucinda Brown, 70, of Harriman passed away Saturday January 7 at Methodist Medical Center...Arrangements will be announced by Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs.

Lucinda Mae Sampson Brown, age 70, a resident of Harriman, walked into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren.

Lucinda was born July 16, 1941, in Piney Grove, WV, where she was raised. She spent her adult life in several states including California, Washington, Oklahoma, and Alaska before making her final move to Roane County, Tennessee, in 1995.

Lucinda was a proud and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. In earlier years, she selflessly devoted endless hours to her children's activities. She was a Girl Scout Leader, Boy Scout Leader, PTA member and officer, school volunteer, girl's softball coach, Team Mother for baseball and football, cheer leading coach, camp counselor, and so much more. She was employed in various occupations, but spent a number of years working as a Certified Nursing Assistant at various hospitals and nursing homes. Before retiring, she spent several years providing in-home care for elderly clients who affectionately called her "Cindy". She was a hard worker who provided care that was loving, patient and kind.

She enjoyed singing, cooking, sewing, her pets, church activities, ministry work, and time with her friends and family. Lucinda was known for her gentle and giving spirit and her capacity to love greatly and unconditionally. She loved Christ and was a devoted prayer warrior. She touched many lives through prayer ministry, as a volunteer for the prayer line at Fires of Revival Ministries in Kingston, and as a long time member of the Parson's Rest Prayer Group of Rockwood. She regularly attended Big Emory Baptist Church.

The family is comforted by the time spent with Lucinda over the past year and during the final weeks of her life. She was blessed in June as she attended the birth of her first great grandchild, a beautiful and healthy baby boy. A wonderful time was shared at Christmas with her children, grandchildren, and great grandson. An additional blessing came on New Year's Eve as she witnessed the marriage of her only granddaughter to a wonderful man and her best friend. We are thankful to God for providing these happy times and fond memories, and for granting time for all her children and grandchildren to assemble by her side.

Lucinda is preceded in death by her parents, Shirley Walter Sampson and Claribell Lea (Grear) Sampson Shanahan; step-father Frank "Bud" Shanahan; sister-in-law Alma Ruth Sampson; and niece, Kathy Sampson. Joyful are they now to be reunited!

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Lenora and Brian McBee; son and girlfriend, Jack Wiseman, Jr. and Melissa Duncan; daughter-in-law, Paula Wiseman; grandchildren, Jason Wayne Goode and wife Keelee, Amber Lea Wiseman Shillings and husband Michael, Zachary Lee Wiseman and wife Samantha, Corbin Lee Wiseman and wife Amy; and great grandson, Gavin Lee Goode. She is also survived by two brothers, Robert Lee Sampson, Steven (Walter) Sampson and wife Jolinda; and six nieces and nephews, Leah Monserrat, Robert Lee Sampson II, Annette (Sampson) Johnson, David Sampson, Tammy (Sampson) Seymour, and Rebecca Sampson; aunts Goldia (Grear) Brown and Arlene (Grear) Moore; special cousin Karen Meadows; and many loyal and special friends including Mary and Norman Riter, Kathy and Bob Ellis, John and Dee Mann, David Barkley, and Danny Swafford.

Lucinda's children extend their love and heartfelt thanks to the many that have prayed for us and assisted us in many ways throughout our mother's illness. We are blessed by loving family members and friends who have helped us in many ways through this difficult period. Special appreciation is given to Karen and the staff of Home Care Solutions, as well as the staff of NHC at Oak Ridge, for providing compassionate care to our mother in a respectful and dignified manner. This means so very much.

An informal gathering in celebration of Lucinda's life will be held on Sunday, January 15th, from 2:00p to 4:00p at the Harriman Pizza Station located at 701 N. Roane Street. The family invites you to join us for fellowship, prayer, and sharing of memories as we pay tribute to her life and rejoice in her salvation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations for Gideon bibles to be placed in Lucinda's memory. Donations may be sent to Parson's Rest at 129 Bradshaw Hollow Road, Rockwood, TN, 37854
