Walter E. Verdun, 73, Houghton Lake, died Jan. 3, 2005, at his home.
The Rev. Dr. James N. Kent will officiate a service at Christler Funeral Home–Houghton Lake Chapel Thursday, Jan. 6, at 1 p.m. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 to 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Amicare Hospice.
Mr. Verdun was born July 27, 1931, to Walter L. and Florence (Carroll) Verdun. Before moving to Houghton Lake in 1988, he lived in Erie. He and Joyce Dale were united in marriage in 1992 in Roscommon. He was owner and operator of the Stay & Play Resort on he North Shore of Houghton Lake and retired in 1992. He was a member of the Houghton Lake Eagles.
Preceding him in death were his daughter, Gail; granddaughter, Jessica; and brother, Mike.
Surviving Mr. Verdun are his wife, Joyce Verdun of Houghton Lake; three sons, Walter John and his wife Barbara Verdun of Taylor, James W. and his wife Pamela Verdun of Millersburg, and Gary Michael and his wife Connie Verdun of Dearborn Heights; two daughters, Lynn and her husband Ronald Kain of Clarkston and Cynthia and her husband Marvin Raymond of Erie; 23 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
