"VETERAN OF '61 DIES IN MIAMI
Samuel A. Beddall, Retired Engineer, Lived Here Six Years
Samuel A. Bedall. 73, retired mining engineer and Civil war veteran, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs J. M. Watkins, 411 N. E Twenty-ninth st., early Tuesday morning. A resident of Miami for the last six years, he had made many friends here.

Mr. Bedall was born and reared at Pottsville, Pa. He enlisted in the 48th regiment, Pennsylvania volunteers when 16 and served through the Civil war as color sergeant. After the war he engaged in mining engineering at ten Pottsville until, retiring a few years ago.

Active in civic and social circle, Mr. Bedall was a member of the Miami Chamber of Commerces, a memer of the G.A.R., a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and a Mason. Surviving him are two sons,
Francis B. and Charles N. Bedall, both of Philadelphia, Pa. and two daughters, Mrs. Watkins and Mrs. Jennie Scherer of Pennsylvania.

Funeral services were to be conducted at 2:30 p. m. Tuesday at the chapel of the Gautier Funeral home by the Jesse L. Murrell. The body will be sent for burial to Pottsville Tuesday night." From The Miami News, March 31, 1925, page 16
