Mr. Charlie Hassen Davenport, age 93, of Marietta, Ga., passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012, at his home. He was born in Hemp, Ga., December 31, 1918, son of the late Claude and Molly Forrester Davenport. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was retired fromEastern Air Lines, and was a member of the Hemptown Baptist Church. He loved to work in his vegetable garden and what a green thumb he had. Charlie will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Survivors include his loving wife, Martine Parker Davenport, two brothers, Forrest and Shirley Davenport of Lilburn, Ga., and Kermit Davenport of Douglas, Ga., two -in-law, Bob Parker of Dalton, Ga., and Billy Parker of Waleska, Ga., two sisters-in-law, Clara King of Blairsville, Ga., and Peggy Asherbranner of Jasper, Ga. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. from the Akins of Blue Ridge Chapel with Brian K. Asherbranner giving the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Hemptown Cemetery with military honors by the North Georgia Honor Guard.. The family asks that donations be made to the Hemptown Baptist Church. The Family will meet with friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 7 until 9 PM.
