Mrs. Carol Churchill, 54, of Colchester, died Sunday afternoon at McDonough District Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at the Colchester Christian Church with the Rev. Cecil Swindle of Macomb officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel of Jones Mortuary in Colchester after 2:30 p.m. today. The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
She was born September 9, 1912 in Baylis, Ill. the daughter of William and Zora Ornduff Elder. Her parents are deceased.
She moved to Macomb as a child and later to Moline. She had lived the last 15 years in Colchester where she was a third grade teacher.
She was married to Henry R. Churchill on June 27, 1936. He survives. Also surviving are five children Jerry and John, both of Colchester, Mrs. Sally Harn of Bushnell, Jim of San Diego, Calif., and Sam at home; one brother ,William, of La Harpe; four sisters Mrs. Alberta Bushnell of Blandinsville; Mrs. Ruth Duke of Lima, Ill.; Mrs. Ann Finchum of Camp Point; and Mrs. Enid Kilgore of Bradenton, Fla.; and four grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Irene Painter, is deceased.
Mrs. Churchill was a member of the Colchester Teachers Klub, past secretary of the McDonough County Teachers Assn., a member of the McDonough District Hospital Auxiliary, and a member of the Colchester Business and Professional Womens Club. She was a member of the Colchester Christian Church.
She was graduated in 1931 from Moline High School and from Western Illinois University in 1935. She had been a teacher for 18 years, teaching in Smithfield and several schools in the Colchester area before teaching in Colchester.
