He was born on June 7, 1904 in Saybrook, McLean County, Illinois, a son of Aaron Augspurger and Emma Ellen (Shertz) Augspurger.

Loyal Dale Augspurger married Elva Loretta Vielhak on September 17, 1924 in Saybrook, McLean County, Illinois. She preceded him in death on May 5, 1981.

Survivors are two sons Marlow Augspurger and Loyal Gene Augspurger both of Chenoa, Illinois; three daughters Donna Saffer, June Stalter, and Karen Skaggs all of Chenoa; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was a member of Chenoa United Methodist Church.

Mr. Augspurger farmed in the Saybrook, Illinois and Heyworth, Illinois area until 1936, when he moved to Chenoa, Illinois. He then worked as a crane operator in Pontiac and Livingston stone quarries, retiring as a superintendent in 1974. He also operated Slim's Fixit Shop out of his home for 12 years.
