Funeral for Freda McCarley Mitchell, 76, of Somerville will be Thursday, January 12, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ralph Henderson and the Rev. Stacy Turney officiating.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Mitchell died Sunday, January 8, 2012, at her daughter's residence in Tanner. She was born November 14, 1935, in Morgan County to Elbert McCarley and Elmer Scott McCarley. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jimmy Mitchell; and one great-grandson, Eric Green.
She is survived by her loving husband, C. L. "Buddy" Mitchell; two daughters, Judy Kitko (Tom) of Tanner and Vickie Green (David) of Hartselle; one sister, Imogene Hopper of Decatur; nine grandchildren, Tammy Slappey (Patrick), Angelia Turney, Dewayne Mitchell (Megan), Chad Jennings, Nicole Pettey (David), Brandon Johnson (Tammy) and Lakeda Pettey (Jimmy), all of Somerville, Aaron Mitchell of Ft. Benning, Ga., and Ben Green of Hartselle; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Byron Turney, Patrick Slappey, Jimmy Pettey, Brandon Johnson, Timothy Elledge, Ben Green, Crosby Holt and Jamie Pettey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gerald Cook, Wayne Parker, Timmy Edwards and J.P. Patterson.
