WELLSVILLE - Charles "Chuck" Robert Capehart, 74, of state Route 45, Wellsville, passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, peacefully in his sleep at home.
Charles was born May 22, 1937, in East Liverpool and is the son of the late Dale Curtis Capehart and Iris Jean Walter Capehart.
He was a graduate of East Liverpool High School and served in the Air Force for four years as an airplane mechanic. He retired from Crucible Steel in Midland and later worked maintenance at Ponderosa Park in Salem.
Charles, known by his grandkids as "Pap Pap," loved to spend time with his family. He enjoyed good food, reading current events, and listening to country music. He even enjoyed occasionally playing his guitar and harmonica as a pastime.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Capehart; a sister, Charlene Smith; and a great-grandson Scotty Haney Jr..
Besides his loving wife Carolyn Sue Coleman Capehart whom he married in East Liverpool on July 27, 1962; he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Donna (Jack) Frech; a brother, Larry C. Capehart; and three daughters, Mrs. Cathy Sue (Rick) Hudson of Wellsville, Sandy Eileen Joy of East Liverpool, and Mrs. Janice Kay (David) Wilson of Chester. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Heather Joy, Heidi Joy, Dustin Huff, Sierra Huff, Jackson Wilson, Emily Wilson, Savannah Hudson, and Justin Hudson.
He also leaves four great-grandchildren.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday from noon to 7 p.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester where funeral services will be observed at 11 a.m. on Friday with full military rites by the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group and the Air Force Honor Guard. Pastor Alvin Talkington of the Empire United Methodist Church will officiate. Private burial at Calcutta United Presbyterian Cemetery will take place at a later date.
