Gwendolyn "Gwen" Marcella Longseth Price, age 92, of Dodgeville, left this world on Monday, January 9, 2012 at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville, WI. Gwen was born on June 20, 1919 at Upper Sneed Creek, Wyoming Township in Iowa County to parents Martin and Minnie (Johnson) Longseth. She married William Andrew Ladd "Laddie" Price on February 22, 1941 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, IA. Laddie and Gwen spent 61 years together farming in Wyoming Township until 1953 and then in Clyde Township until moving to Dodgeville in 2002. Laddie preceded her in death on September 4, 2002. Gwen was proud of her Norwegian heritage and was an accomplished Norwegian Rosemaler, Tole Painter and quilter. She was the featured craft artist at the World Dairy Expo in Madison and displayed her rosemaling talents at the Dane County Coliseum. Gwen received the Ardith Murphy Memorial Award from the Wisconsin Association of Extension Home Economists in 1981; Wisconsin Extension Volunteer of the Year in 1983 and the Rose Award from the Polar Region Jaycettes for Service to the Community. Gwen was a great cook and always had a beautiful yard and garden. She enjoyed company and entertained friends and family often, especially during the years when she was a caregiver for her mother. She was a board member of the Iowa County Commission on Aging for several years, active in the Iowa County Homemakers for several years where she served in several offices and was honored as the Homemaker of the year in 1992. Both Gwen and Laddie were active members of the North Dodgeville Lutheran Church and after its fire, the Otter Creek Lutheran Church.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Lela Sorenson, Golda Larson and Helen Sullivan-Johnsrude and five brothers, Victor, Curtis, Lester and Wilmer Longseth and Ernest Peterson. Gwen is survived by four children, Joan (Lee ) Nelson of Spring Green; David (Cathy) Price of Avoca; Judith (Pat) Goldschmidt of Verona and Charles (Louise) Price of Dodgeville; 12 grandchildren, Alison, Amy, Aric (Cammy), Adam (Lisa) Goldschmidt; Mike (Penny) Price, Michelle (Frank ) Heim, Melody (Nick) Scheckel, and Christy Price; Christine (Steve) Mason and Amber Price; Erica and Kerstin Nelson; 17 Great Grandchildren, Rachel Mason, Nolan Borne, Andy, Caitlin, Ashley and Bryan Price, Lily, Wyatt and Natalee Scheckel, Veronica Fahrney, Kolin King, Dillon and Seth Goldschmidt, Anthony Terasa, Mackenzie, Carter and Cooper Goldschmidt as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home in Dodgeville. Pastor Roger Koester will officiate with burial in East Side Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and again on Saturday after 12:00 Noon.
