He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gladys Buckley Mullin, his four children Eileen Bernat of Augusta, Georgia, Sharon (Glenn) Hodne of Pearl River, NY, Richard (Cecilia) Mullin of Hempstead, NY, Kathleen (Gil) Quintero of Mahwah, NJ and five grandchildren, Tim and Ryan Bernat, Erin Hodne, and Thomas and Daniel Mullin.
He was employed by B. Altman & Co. NY, NY from 1946 until he retired as Vice President in 1987.
He flew for the 98th Bomb Group, 15th Air Force in World War II from 1941 to 1945 completing 51 missions. He was discharged as a Captain for the U. S. Air Force with the Distinguished Flying Cross, seven Air Medals and five Battle Stars. He was also recalled for the Air Force Reserve during the Korean War as a pilot.
He loved his family, friends, faith and flying. He held his pilots license from WW II until he was 85 and was a member of the United Flying Octogenarians. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Hudson Valley, 832 S. Broadway, Tarrytown, NY 19591 and online at www.hudson.wish.org.
Memorial services will be held at Turner Funeral Home, 14360 Spring Hill Drive, Brooksville, FL on Wednesday, January 11th from 4-7 pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church, 5030 Mariner Blvd, Spring Hill, FL on Thursday, January 12th at 9:30 am.
