Eunice Estaline Wilson, the daughter of John C. and Mary Mathews Wilson, was born July 20, 1917 on the family farm near Neosho Rapids. She attended a country school and high school at Neosho Rapids, graduating in 1936. She married Keva Cunningham on May 2, 1937 in Neosho Rapids. He died July 27, 1998.
They farmed for several years in the Burlington and Lebo areas, and later moved to Emporia where she worked in various rest homes. After moving back to Neosho Rapids, she worked as a cook at the Neosho Rapids School for 16 years. She worked on the steering committee to form the Rural Water District #4 in Lyon County, where she served on the Board of Directors as Board Chairperson, Treasurer, and Finical Secretary, as well as several other committees. She was a member of Neosho Rapids United Methodist Church, and the United Methodist Women where she served as President, Vice President and Secretary-Treasurer. She also taught Sunday School for 25 years and was a member of the Neosho Rapids Red Hat Society.
She is survived by one son, Cecil Cunningham of Emporia; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 13, 2012 at Neosho Rapids United Methodist Church. Pastor Gene Huston will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Neosho Rapids. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Neosho Rapids United Methodist Church may be sent in care of the funeral home.
