Edcel Branham, age 82 of Fairborn, passed away Wednesday January 4, 2012 in his residence. He was born July 6, 1929 in Paintsville, Kentucky, the son of the late Frank and Alice (Green) Branham. Edcel served his country in the U.S. Army during Korea and followed with employment at Navistar, retiring after 30 years of service. He was a longtime member of American Legion Dignam-Whitmore Post 526 and 40/8; as well as VFW Arkenberg-States Post 6861 and AmVets #444. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Stanley. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Alma; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. The family will receive friends on Sunday January 8, 2012 from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M., with a Post Everlasting service at 3:45 P.M., in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn. A funeral service with military honors will be held at 4:00 P.M. following the Post Everlasting service. Burial will be on Monday January 9, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. in the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Evercare Hospice, 130 W. Second St., Suite 400, Dayton, OH 45402.
