James "Spike" Jackson

James "Spike" Jackson is described as a man with a heart of gold, with kind thoughts, deeds and expressions for everyone he met. James gave the best he had to offer to his family. He was born the son of Julia Jackson in Houston County, Georgia on May 22, 1930. There he received his education and later furthered it at Macon Technical Vocational School in Macon, Georgia. Realizing his responsibility to his country, James served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War with an honorable discharge in Oct.of 1954. He later united in Holy Matrimony to Jessie Mae French and the couple had one daughter. James later became employed as a deputy sheriff for the Houston County Police Department. James Jackson departed this life at a hospital in Macon, Georgia on April 23, 1981. He was buried with full military honors. To know him was to love him!

He has not served who gathers gold,
Nor has he served whose life is told
In selfish battles he has won
Or deed of skill that he has done,
But he has served who now and then
Has helped along his fellow man.
