Fine Wife and Mother, Grand Neighbor and Hard Working Church Woman
Chesaning was shocked Wednesday afternoon when word came from St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw that Mrs. Leo Morrissette had passed away. A victim of Pneumonia. She had entered the hospital Sunday night suffering a relapse after a cold which hung on all winter but which seemed so much better that she was up and around only last week. Chesaning stores will close from 9 until 10 Saturday morning during the funeral service. The sympathy of the community is with Leo and their fine family of seven children. Mrs. Morrissett was beloved by all, she was that kind of a wife and mother, that kind of a true friend and neighbor and that kind of a fine church woman. The grim reaper has visited many homes in this little city this winter and taken many of our loved ones and now the Good Lord has called Mrs. Morrissette to her eternal rest. The Morrissettes, through being in the bakery and their activity in every good movement in this city, probably were as well and favorably known as any family. Her place will be hard to fill. Surely she has left a heritage of fine children, from the little baby who come into the world last March up to Albert growing up to young manhood, the image of his mother in every way. Mary C. Albert was born Sept. 14, 1894, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Albert, Maple Grove pioneers. She was married to Leo J. Morrissette, May 14, 1914 and the couple had made their home in Chesaning since. She was a high ranking officer in the Royal Neighbors and was very prominent in the activities of Our lady of Perpetual Help Church, giving liberally of her time and energy. She is survived by her husband and the following children; Albert, Helen, Frances, Robert, Leona, Lucille, and the baby Jane Marie. Also her father and step mother, two sisters, one half sister and two half brothers. The funeral will be held Saturdy morning at 9 o'clock at Our Lady of Perpetual Help church, with Rev. Fr. Skovramsky formerly of St. Charles now of St Joseph's church, Saginaw conducting the service. Burial will be in the family lot next to her mother in Maple Grove cemetery. (should read St. Michael Cemetery, Maple Grove--HGengler note)
