Joan Gardner of Vancouver, WA, formerly of Springfield, OR. died Dec. 26, 2003 of cancer. She was 76. Joan was born Dec. 31, 1926, in Duke, OK, to Frank Proctor and Cristina Dickenson. Her first husband, Richard Grover, died previously. She married Lloyd Gardner in Springfield in 1976. He died in September of 1999. She lived in Springfield for 40 years before settling in Vancouver. She worked as a telephone operator before becoming a homemaker. She was a former member of the Danebo Open Bible Church in Eugene. Her interests included church activities and crafts. She enjoyed her family. Survivors include three daughters, Rhonda Smith of Corvallis, OR, Carla Carron of Richfield, WA, and Beth Suter of Springfield, OR; a brother, Raymond Dickenson of Farmingdale, NJ; four sisters, Ruby Walston of Lawton, OK, Joyce Jackson of Fort Worth, TX, Grace Murrin of Clay Center, KS, and Lorraine Brown of Oroville, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grand- children. A son, Marshal Grover, died previously. Inurnment was at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR.
