Max G. Rogers of Utica, Michigan, formerly of Eastpointe, Michigan, entered eternal life on Saturday, January 7, 2012 after a short ilness. He was 81 years old.

Max was born on August 23, 1930 in Union County, Georgia, to Joseph Fletcher Rogers and Virginia Norene (Davenport) Rogers. He graduated from Union High School in 1947. On December 21, 1952 he married Lois Marie Kelly in McClellan Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan.

Max served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a Purple Heart recipient.

He was a retired captain of the East Detroit Fire Department. In 1986 he helped to deliver a set of twins.

Max enjoyed gardening, reading, painting, canoeing, and playing with his three little poodles.

He was the beloved husband of the late Lois (Kelly) married for over 56 years; Loving father of Sharon (Frank) Lombardo, Gary (Bonnie) Rogers, Vicky Ann (Tim) Patricca, and Jim Rogers; Dear grandfather of Sara, Bethany, Kelly, Paul, Brian, Eric, Jonathan, Matthew, Amanda; and five great-grand children.

Besides his wife, Max was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Fletcher and Virginia Norene Rogers; and his two brothers, Rex and Keith Rogers.

Visitation: Wednesday, January 11, 2012 from 3-8 at Resurrection Funeral Home, 40800 Hayes Rd., Clinton Township MI, 48038.

Funeral Service: Thursday January 12, 2012 at 10 am at Resurrection Funeral Home with visitation at 9 am.
