Rathburn,- July 4, The REVIEW, published at Evart, Michigan, has the following reference to the death of a sister of Mr. David W. Elder;
"Jessie W. Elder was born in Mara township, Ont., March 25, 1847 and died at Evart, Mich., June 6, 1910. In 1864 she was married to John H. McMullen, pre deceased her December 1, 1895. In 1865they removed to Ottawa County, Mich., remaining three years, coming to Osceola county in the fall of 1868 and settled on their farm in Evart township, where they remained until their deaths. Consequently Mrs. McMullen was among the older settlers of Osceola county, coming here when the only means of transportation was by wagon following a blazed trail through the vast unbroken forest. She leaves to mourn her sad loss, five sons and three daughters; William J., of Manor, Wash.; Mrs. Julia Roser, of Detroit; David D. of Raven, Alberta, Can.; George M., Mrs. May Fleming, and Earl A. of Evart; Mrs. Ada E. Charleton (sic) of Bethel, Minn.; and Ormonde, of Big Rapids, Mich. One son, Harry, died at Evart, in 1901. Also five brothers and one sister; John E. and William M., of Evart; George, Bobcaygeon; James T. and David W. Elder, Rathburn; and Mrs. John Lamb of Brechin, Ont. besides a host of friends and neighbors . Funeral was held from the home, Wednesday, June 8, Rev. E. O. Mather officiating. A large concourse of friends and neighbors attended. Interment was made in Forest Hill cemetery,. Relatives attending from out of town were Ormande McMullen, of Big Rapids, Mrs. Ada Charleton, of Minnesota, and James, of Ontario, the latter three being with her at time of death. Mrs. Rosser had recently returned to her home in Detroit. Deceased was always a true and loving wife, a kind and thoughtful mother and sister and sincere in her trust in Christ her Redeemer. God grant she may be sleeping in that noble trust. "
