Robert Lynnwood Barnett, Jr. was born to Robert Lynwood Barnett, Sr., and Marguerite (Reese) Barnett on November 25, 1947 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He was raised at Peach Bottom, PA and graduated from Solanco High School , Quarryville, PA. Robert served in the US Air Force from January, 1967 until he was discharged in 1971. He was stationed in California, and Greenland, and finally in Grand Forks where he and Shirley Vavrosky were united in marriage on July 26, 1969. They lived in Peach Bottom, PA before returning to Grand Forks in May, 1973. Robert was a diesel mechanic, employed by Hoffert Motor Service in East Grand Forks, MN, and later by Spicer Trucking in Grand Forks until he retired in 2000.
He enjoyed hunting, golfing, reading and spending time with his grandchildren
Robert is survived by his mother, Marguerite of New Providence, PA; wife, Shirley, Grand Forks; children, Tracy (Brian) Evenson, Grand Forks, Mark (Amy) Barnett and their children, Jacob and Rachel, Reynolds, ND, and Darrin Barnett, Reynolds, ND; siblings, James (Sandy) Barnett, New Providence, PA, Greg (Dawn) Barnett, New Providence, PA, Theodore Barnett, Quarryville, PA, Robin (Frank) Smith, Lancaster, PA, Gail (Doug) Gibbons, Drumore, PA, and Sharon Barnett, New Providence, PA.
He is preceded in death by his father, and a sister, Faye Eckman.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 520 5th Ave North, Grand Forks.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 9, 2012 with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
