Eleanor Dean Roop Morris, 77, of the Snowville Community of Montgomery County, passed away Saturday January 7, 2012 at her home. She was born in Radford, the daughter of the late Walter F. and Lillie Cox Quesenberry Roop. She was a member of the Radford Worship Center for over 60 years, where she was the church historian, past Elder and Choir Director where she shared her great passion for music. She was a retired employee of Radford University as textbook manager at the bookstore. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend who never met a stranger and always put others first. She was a wonderful homemaker and an avid cook, sharing many delicious dishes with friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband, whom she loved and adored for 56 years, Clyde Ray Morris. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Lynn Morris, of Snowville; two daughters and son-in-law, Dianne Morris, of Snowville, Becky and Brent Chitwood, of Royston, GA; three sisters and brother-in-law, Ilene and Bill Crigler, Evelyn Lasher, and Frankie Bowyer; five sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Lee Carroll, Ruth and Hassell Boothe, both of Christiansburg, Edith and Theodore Marshall, Radford, Nancy and Rodney Shelburne, Snowville, Judy and Joe Wade, of Childress, and Millie Roop, of Radford; four grandchildren, Abbi Jenkins, Miriam Wood, Fielding Morris and Whitney Morris and four great-grandchildren. Special thanks to Carilion Hospice for the loving care. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the Radford Worship Center with Dr. Hal Adams and the Rev. Glennard Quesenberry officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 4 p.m. at the church. A graveside service will be held Thursday January 12, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Radford Worship Center Food Bank, 1820 Second Street, Radford, VA 24141. The Morris family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
