FRED L JARRED DIES; FUNERAL AT ALTOONA. Fred Lloyd Jarred, 59, of Altoona died of a heart attack Wednesday, Feb 18, at the Wilson County Hospital. He was only ill about four hours.
Fred Jarred was born October 5, 1899, at Kansas City, Mo. He never married. He came to Altoona with his parents in 1906. His mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Jarred, survives at the home in rural Altoona.
The deceased is survived by a sister, Mrs. Elsie Lewellen, of Altoona, and two brothers, Forrest Jarred, Fredonia, and Roy Jarred of Moran, Kan. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
His father, Jacob Jarred, preceded him in death , and a brother, Walter Jarred, died on May 26, 1949. Twin sisters, Lulu and Beulah, died in infancy. Mr. Jarred farmed all his life.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb 20, at the Altoona Christian Church with the Rev. Alvin Daetwiler officiating. Mrs. Morris Forsythe and Mrs. Clifford Cranor sang "Nearer My God to Thee" and "Beyond The Sunset." Miss Helen Cranor was accompanist.
Casket bearers were Guy Hall, Morris Forsythe, Dick Gentry, Howard Carver, James York and Roy Lewellen. Interment was made in Altoona cemetery. The Loran Fawcett Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Out of town relatives attending the services were: Mr. & Mrs. Forrest Jarred, Fredonia; Mr. & Mrs. Roy Jarred and Harold Wall, Moran; Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Owens and Mr. & Mrs. Dorrell Jarred, Humboldt; Mr. & Mrs. Forest Jarred, Jr., Burns; Mr. & Mrs. William English, Kansas City; Mr. & Mrs. Walter Jones, Iola; Mr. & Mrs. Neville Brown, LeRoy.
