James E. Barnstable, 64, of Antioch, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital in Lake Forest.

He was born June 12, 1947 in Woodstock, the son of Ervin Leo "Bud" and Dorothy (Smith) Barnstable. Jim had proudly served in the U.S. Army for fifteen years, having served in Vietnam, Greece, Germany, and other parts of the world.

Jim later worked for the FAA, overseeing regional transportation for the Midwest, until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of the Kenosha Chapter of HOG, loved riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, and enjoyed boating. On March 24, 2008, he married Shirley Cook in Waukegan.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley: a daughter, Cindy Barnstable of Houston, Texas; step-children, Lesa (Rob) Tolbert of Ingleside, Illinois; Marlo (Brian) Palmer of Genoa City, Wisconsin; Christopher (Sue) Sugrue of Trevor, Wisconsin; and Audra (Rodney) Outinen of Ingleside; five grandchildren; his mother, Dorothy (Vernon) Seiler of Lake Villa; a brother, Thomas (Sharon) Barnstable of Lake Villa; his goddaughter, Andrea Barnstable of Chicago; and many nieces, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Bud; and a granddaughter, Jackie.

Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Strang Funeral Home of Antioch, 1055 Main Street (Route 83), Antioch, with a visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Interment will be private in East Fox Lake Cemetery, Lake Villa Township.
