David Diffenbaugh was a member of the 8th Regimnetal Illinois Volunteer Cavalry Company G when he died at the Battle of Gettysburg on July 1, 1863. He was sevring as an orderly for Col. William Gamble, commander of the regiment.
The muster sheet list him as being from Freeport, IL and enlisting on September 18, 1861. He is the only confirmed death the 8th had at the Battle of Gettysburg.
