The following obituary for John O'Brien has a missing sentence or two [indicated by - - -]. John O'Brien died at 5:45 Friday morning at the Shelby County Memorial hospital. Mr. O'Brien was taken to the hospital Wednesday morning, August 24, when his condition became serious. He had been in ill health for more than a year. [- - - - -] and Mrs. John O'Brien was born at LaSalle, Ill., seventy-four years ago. When he was seven years old he came with his parents to Shelby County where he spent the remainder of life. On April 6, 1876, he was married to Matilda Jane Lambert of Tower Hill. To this union seven children were born, Alva died in infancy and Anna and Guy are also dead. He is survived by Henry of Decatur, Harry of Indianapolis, Ind., Mrs. Roy Miller of Tower Hill and Roy of Houston, Tex. Mr. O'Brien had been a merchant in Shelbyville for many years. Funeral services were held at the Moulton Methodist Church Sunday afternoon. Burial in Glenwood Cemetery. 1 Sep 1927 – Shelbyville Democrat
