"John H Gilson, Aged 85 Years, Spent Entire Life in Oil Creek Township - WAS SUCCESSFUL FARMER - John H Gilson, life-long resident of Oil Creek township, and successful farmer, passed away at his home on Gilson Ridge at 7 o'clock, Tuesday morning, death being due to the infirmities of years. Mr Gilson was son of Richard and Elizabeth Harrison Gilson and was born near where he spent his long life on November 23, 1847, so was in his 85th year. His entire active life was spent us a farmer and he enjoyed a wide acquaintance throughout the community among whom he was held in high esteem. He was a member of Hydetown Grange and of the Thompson Creek United Brethren church. Widow and Seven Children - The deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs Anna Gilson and the following children: Mrs Cora Higby of Cochranton, Mrs Lena Drake at home, Mrs Mary Ross of California, Mrs Gertrude Fitch of Corry, Richard, Clinton and Harry Gilson of Titusville. There are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There are two brothers, W B Gilson of this city and George Gilson of Grand Valley, and one sister, Mrs Nancy Coates of Titusville. Arrangements for the funeral services will not be completed until arrival of the daughter from California, who is now enroute to the city and is expected to arrive Thursday evening. The interment will be made in Woodlawn cemetery, with Rev H F Reagle of Corry officiating at the services, assisted by Rev George O Pcarce of Centerville, pastor of the Thompson Creek U B church.
