Jason L. "Jay" Moser, 81, of Decatur and formerly of Wren, Ohio, died Saturday, July 11, at Adams County Memorial Hospital.

The Rockford, Ohio, native retired in 1979 from General Electric in Decatur after 37 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, where he was a former Sunday School teacher and superintendent. He was a member of Elks Lodge 993 and past exalted ruler, Moose Lodge 1311, Willshire Masonic Lodge and a charter member of the Wren Historical Society. He was active in area sports teams, coached the Moose softball team that won a national title in 1947 and helped found the Wren Little League. Surviving are his wife, Maxine; daughters, Anne Downs of Warrensburg, Mo., Jill Bowen of Wren, Ohio, and Jayne Moser-Miller of Butler, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Sandra Baumann of Muncie; a sister, Martha Frisinger of Kalamazoo, Mich.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Rose Weaver, Annis Witters, Barbara Geble and Janet Moser, and a grandson, Ric Bowen.

Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Van Wert, Ohio, with calling one hour before services. Calling is also from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, with an 8 p.m. Masonic service and an 8:15 p.m. Elks service at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur. Burial will be in Evangelical Protestant Cemetery, Van Wert, Ohio.
