He was a native of Cherokee County, NC and the son of the late Earl Von and Lois Trout Smith. Larry was a mechanic and was a doffer machine operator for American Thread and Coats America for over 30 years. He was a US Army veteran. Larry enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his infant sister, Patsy.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Rev. Dennis Ashe and Rev. Derrick Palmer will officiate. Pallbearers will be Chris Swanson, Jeff Chastain, Bob Welch, Gary Welch, Charles Young, Darrel Watkins, and Tommy Herndon. Burial will be in the Tomotla Community Cemetery in Marble.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM, Monday, January 9, 2012 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy, NC.
