Lester C. Hanson, 92, of Bella Vista, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at the Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville.
He was born Sept. 23, 1919, in Manitoba, Canada, to Oscar and Nora Hanson.

He moved to Chicago in 1932 and served four years in the U.S. Army during WW II as a sergeant in the South Pacific. He was owner/operator of L.C. Hanson Painting and Decorating for 34 years, was on the board of directors for the Chicago Painting Contractors' Association., president of the South Chicago Roseland Little League and an active member of Nazareth Lutheran Church.

After retiring, he relocated to North Port, Fla., where he enjoyed another 27 years of playing golf, serving on the board of the La Casa Home Owners Association, and on the council of Living Waters Lutheran Church. He moved to Bella Vista in October and resided at Concordia Retirement Center.

He was preceded in death by his mother; father; six brothers; and one sister.

Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Elsie (Larsen) Hanson; sons Jim (Su Lynn) of Bella Vista and Glen of Shoreview, Minn.; one grandson, Jake (Jessee); and two great-grandchildren, Grace and Quinlan of Kansas City, Kan. Surviving also are two sisters, Alice of Manitoba, Canada, and Beatrice of Greeley, Colorado.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers.
Private inurnment will be at Fayetteville National Cemetery.
