George H. Partlow, 72, Bascom Rd., Newport, died Oct 22 at his home.

He was born Dec. 22, 1909, in Highgate, Vt., the son of George F. and Zora (Butters) [this should read Betters per Karen Tomecek] Partlow and lived in Newport for the past 50 years.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

Before his retirement in 1974, he worked for the Dartmouth Woolen Mill, Claremont for 24 years.

He was a member of the Brewster-Gould-Lee American Legion Post 25, Newport.

He leaves his wife, Lucille (Patten) Partlow, Newport; a brother, Edward Partlow, Claremont; four sisters, Elsie P. Morrill, Newport, Cora Rollo, St. Johnsbury, Vt., Doris Bell, Hudson Falls, N.Y., and Alfreda Couitt, Claremont; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services took place Oct. 25 at the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home with the Rev. John Barlow, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Newport officiating.

Burial, with military rites, was in Pine Grove Cemetery.
