It appears that they were members of the Holly Springs Baptist Church, but later on Jane Wheeler was listed as a member of the Zoar Methodist Church.

In suit dated 1854 and filed in the Spartanburgh Court of Equity (Jane Wheeler et al vs. John Wheeler et al, Box 34 packaged 2) stated that the estate of Jesse Wheeler consisted of several small tracts of land totaling about 600 acres. The suit explains that the lands had not been divided amongst the heirs, that the married heirs were needful of their shares and that the only way for them to receive them was to file this action. The plaintiffs were the widow Jane Wheeler, David C. Wheeler, Austin Edwards and wife Mary, Robert Gains and wife Rachel, John Staggs and wife Elizabeth, William Wheeler, Martha Wheeler, Andrew Wheeler, Margaret Wheeler, Nancy Wheeler, James Wheeler, Peter Wheeler and Alexander Wheeler. The defendant was John Wheeler.

They are legal representatives of Jesse Wheeler formerly of the district and state aforesaid who departed this life on the (blank) day of (blank) in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty ..."
