Mrs. Myrtle Edith Byrd Sparks, age 69, of Barker Road, passed away Sunday November 14, 2004 at her residence. Mrs. Sparks was born October 21, 1935 in Wilkes County to Lester and Hannas Gentry Byrd. Mrs. Sparks retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Garvey Couch, her second husband, Johnny Sparks. A son, Neil Sparks, a sister, Ina Mae Haynes, a brother, Harold Byrd. Survivors include: Three daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela Souther of N. Wilkesboro. Teresa Norman and husband Cicero of Elkin. Loretta Burton and husband Donnie of Advance. Four Brothers, John Richard Byrd of Lexington, Clyde Byrd of Thurmond, Frankie Dean Byrd of Parlier, Lonnie Byrd of N. Wilkesboro. Three sisters, Betty Warren of Wilkesboro, Barbara Johnston of Roaring River, Shelba Sheets of N. Wilkesboro. Nine grandchildren, Ten great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday November 16, 2004 at Charity United Methodist Church at 2:00 pm by Rev. E.R. Wiles. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
