Bettye Faye Wingate, 61, of Bedford passed away on January 6, 2012.

Services will be held Monday, January 9, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney with Rev. Bobby Booth officiating. Interment will follow at Whitney Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 9 - 11 a.m. Monday morning prior to service.

Bettye was born on October 31,1950 in Hillsboro to Warren Randolph "Randy" and Faye Marie Gilmore Wingate and was baptized at an early age. She graduated from Connally High School in Waco in 1967. Bettye graduated Summa Cum Laude from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1971 and then earned her Master of American Studies from Baylor University in 1975 and her Master of Library Science from Texas Woman's University in 1985. In 1980, Bettye was invited to be a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Theta Chi Chapter. Bettye taught in the Mexia ISD, Connally ISD, Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, and taught at Crockett Middle School in the Irving ISD for 20 years. Bettye bravely fought breast cancer for 23 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her sister, Jeanne Wingate of Bedford; cousins, Doris Gilmore of Whitney, Teresa Gilmore Bianca of Whitney, Mike Gilmore of Dallas and several other cousins.
