LAWRENCE, MA - Miss Lillian M. Abbott, 86, formerly of 507 South Union Street, present resident of Lawrence Home for the Aged, 150 Berkeley Street, died Wednesday at Lawrence General Hospital after a shot illness.

She was born in Hancock, ME January 30, 1889 and had been a resident of the Greater Lawrence area for 75 years. Miss Abbott was formerly employed for many years as a commercial service observer for the New England Telephone Company, retiring 21 years ago. She was a member of the United Methodist Parish, the W.S.C.S. of the parish and was a 50-year member of Lawrence Chapter 78 O.E.S. She also was a member of Telephone Pioneers Club, Lawrence Women's Club and Greater Lawrence Y.W.C.A.

She is survived by two nephews, William A. Abbott of Wollaston and H. Allan Abbott of Roswell, GA.; two nieces Mrs. Audrey A. Peterson of Stockton, CA and Mrs. Shirley E. Rogers of Fresno, CA; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. from the Lawrence Home for the Aged. Cremation will be in Linwood Cemetery in Haverhill, with burial to follow in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.

Friends may call today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lawrence Home for the Aged.
