The most wonderful, Christian female example I ever knew. I never understood why she would make me read a chapter of the Gospel of John before we could sleep (I spent the night with her a lot after my Grandpa died.) Finally, I understand why she made sure The Word was written in my heart..."Raise a child in the way they should go, and when they are old, they will not depart from it."

Services for Mabel N. Thompson, 73, P.O. Box 44, Ora, who passed away Tuesday, September 5, 1989 at her residence, were held Friday, September 8, 1989 at the Frain Mortuary in Winamac, with Arlin Perry officiating. Interment followed at Ora Cemetery.
Mabel was born January 9, 1916 in Knox and had lived in Ora most of her life, coming from Ober. On June 26, 1937, in Knox, she married Henry James Thompson, who preceded her in death on December 14, 1977. She was the former owner of the Ora Hardware for 32 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of the Ora Gospel Chapel. Also preceding her in death were one son, Richard, 1987; and one grandson, Michael, 1984.
Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Mary L. Thompson, Ora; two brothers, Donald Humes of Culver, and Lester Humes of North Liberty; and five grandchildren.
