FARMINGTON - U. of Maine at Farmington President Einar A. Olsen has been informed recently of the death of Mrs. Mary Ione (Thompson) Bean, believed to have been the oldest alumnae of the Farmington college,
Mrs. Bean, a member of the class of 1893 from Farmington State Normal School, was 101 at the time of her death. , March 11. Born October 18, 1870, in East Wilton, she moved to Hemet, California in 1912 with her husband, George Bean of Vienna, a poultry farmer.
Mrs. Bean is survived by two daughters, two sons, five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

'GRANDMA BEAN,' 84, FRIENDS FETED AT BIRTHDAY PARTY
Mrs. George Bean, Miss Gertrude Yoder and Miss Minnie Warrelman were honored at a joint birthday anniversary party Sunday at the home of Mrs. Gertrude King on West Mayberry avenue.
Following the dinner, open house was held for "Grandma Bean" who celebrated her eighty-fourth birthday anniversary. Forty-two friends, neighbors and family greeted the honoree between 2 and 4 o'clock. Impromptu entertainment was furnished by the guests and refreshments of ice cream and home made cookies were served.
Several of the out of town guests were boys nd girls who remembered "Grandma Bean" as their baby sitter when they were small children.
