News was received in Dallas last night of the death of Capt. D.H. Snyder at his home in Georgetown. He was born in 1833 and was 88 years old on Sept. 5. Captain Snyder was one of the early settlers of Texas and was for many years prominent as a cattleman, having served as president of the Texas Cattle Raisers' Association of Texas. He was one of the founders of Southwestern University at Georgetown and was selected as a delegate to the Methodist general conference to represent the church in Texas on several occasions.

Captain Snyder is survived by his wife, three sons and six daughters. The sons are Marcus and D.H. Snyder Jr. of Colorado City and Fred Snyder of Lubbock. The daughters are Mrs. C.C. Kirkpatrick of San Angelo, Mrs. W.T. Jones of Georgetown, Mrs. Warren Moore of Austin, Mrs. W.H. Atwell of Dallas, Mrs. C.M. Armstrong of Seminole, Gaines County, and Mrs. E.J. Olive of Dallas.

Arrangements for the funeral have not been made, according to the message received in Dallas. Mrs. Atwell and Mrs. Olive will leave this morning for Georgetown, where they will be joined by other members of the family, when funeral services will be arranged. Dallas Morning News, September 14, 1921
