However, this cemetery plot was purchased and owned by Blanche Gleason and contains the graves of her husband and two of Blanche’s sisters and later her younger son, Jasper. Her obituary (Sutherland Courier, Sept 16, 1916), states that Blanche was laid to rest beside her husband and her death certificate records the release of the body for burial and the date of burial in Sutherland, O'Brien, Co, Iowa. Her body was accompanied by her sons and step son.
Blanche’s name has been listed as Mary Blanche in her obituary but as Blanche Mary on her death certificate. The family knew her as Blanche.
Blanche was the second wife of Henry Gleason, her older sister, Julia Etta Waterman Gleason, was the first wife. Blanche cared for her nephew and later step son, J.E. Gleason from his birth.
