Ethel Hyatt Ashe, 96, of the Deep Creek community, died Monday, October 07, 2002, in Mountain View Nursing Center after a period of declining health.
A native and lifelong resident of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late H.A. ''Coot'' and Emma DeHart Hyatt and wife of Zed Ashe, who died in 1969. Mrs. Ashe was a member of Bryson City United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women Group No. 1. She taught at the Ravensford and Alarka schools during World War II.
Surviving are her son, Edwin Patton and wife, Faye, of Bryson City; and stepson, Robert Ashe of the home.
