Dorothy A. Diebel, 107, of Sebewaing passed away Wednesday morning, Jan. 8, 2003, at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon following a brief illness.
She was born on March 5, 1895, in Dayton, Ohio, daughter of the late Frederick and Phoebe A. (Gingrich) Crake.
She was united in marriage to William B. Diebel in North Branch. He preceded her in death in August 1959.
Dorothy was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Alpha Delta Sunday School class and had been in the choir. She also was a charter member of the Sebewaing Garden Club and was an avid gardener and quilter.
She is survived by three daughters, Thelma Connely of White Lake Township, Lila D. O'Hara and her husband, Jay, of Livonia, Valta D. Nienstedt and her husband, F. William, of Mesa, Ariz.; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews; and very special friend, Connie Maxson, of Gagetown.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Lillian Ellen McLean; three sisters, Ida Rhode, Leta Harley, Catherine Thompson; two brothers, Reinhart Crake and Jennings Crake.
The funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at the Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing. The Rev. Fredrick Wilson will officiate with burial in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. tonight and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Bay Shore Camp.
