Elsie was born in Parkersburg, Wood Co., West Virginia, daughter of Cyrus Maxwell Boger & Bertha (Forester)Boger. She attended Ohio University, Athens, Ohio, graduating with a B.A.in 1916.
Elsie married an Ohio U. classmate, Glenn Morgan DeGroft, 29 Nov 1916. Their Best Man was Fred Wilson Oldham,(my father) an Ohio U. classmate from Bedford, Ohio. Glenn & Elsie had one daughter, Bertha Jeanette DeGroft, commonly called Jean.

Elsie was a member of the D.A.R., a member of the Geauga County Board of Elections and a charter member of the Business and Professional Women's Association. Elsie was a member & president of the Chardon Progress Research Club, and a member of the Geauga County Historical Society. Also, for many years she was involved in running the annual Burton Maple Sugar Festival.

For many years she and Glenn kept a close friendship with some of those classmates: Ralph & Irene Vesey of Greenville, Ohio; Fred & Ethel Oldham of Bedford, Ohio; Carl & Mary Linville of Elyria and Grace & John Albright PHD, of Cleveland & Shaker Hts., Ohio.
