He was born October 25, 1923, in Warren, Arkansas. Upon graduating from high school in Crossett, Arkansas, he went to work in the offices of the Crossett Paper Company, which was later acquired by Georgia-Pacific. His quick mind and natural talents were quickly recognized, and he worked his way up to regional sales manager. He was transferred to Baltimore, Maryland, and then to Chicago, Illinois, each time taking on more responsibilities. In 1976, he moved to Greensboro and started his own company, North American Carolinas Corporation. He was an active member of Muirs Chapel United Methodist Church and Civitans.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 3, 2011, beginning at 2 p.m. at Muirs Chapel United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. Burial will be private.
Mr. Hodge lost his wife Earline of 67 years in March. He is survived by his four children: Martha Bush (Richard) of Fairfax, Va., Mary Kuntz (Daniel) of Greensboro, Sue Johnson of Selma, NC, and Don Hodge, Jr. (Debbie) of Sandy Ridge, NC; six grandchildren: Sharmon Bush Kollet (Grant), Andrew Bush (Samar), Sarah Johnson, Luke Kuntz (Cheryl), Jaime Kuntz, and Emily Kuntz: two great-grandchildren: Sebastian Bush and Macallister Kollet: and his brother Julian of Crossett, AR.
