John Dyer is not buried at this cemetery but is at a lone grave across the road from the cemetery down a no longer used road that used to go to the Devil's Den Community. The grave is on the left side of the road going down hill. A stone at this grave says John E. Dyer which is a mistake. He was called Johnny but he signed his deeds John H. Dyer. This information provided by Danny Mashburn .

John Dyer is mentioned in a civil war story in the book entitled "Facets of Fannin", under John Watson F578, page #574, by Emil Van Watson.
The story is written as follows;
"John Watson, who lived west of John Dyer (near Jacks River) had just killed a leader of three confederate deserters turned guerrillas: Lt Sprinks. The other two guerrillas fled eastward and John Dyer shot and killed another of the guerrillas who is buried at Lebanon Church Cemetery in an unnamed grave. Sprinks is buried at the old John Watson home place at the foot of Watson Mountain. The other guerrilla got away and was never seen again".
